The behavior of the people of Côte-de-Beaupré, Île d'Orléans, and elsewhere in Quebec during the American occupation of the territory in 1775–1776.

Lecture in french.

For nearly a year, American forces militarily occupied Quebec in an attempt to make it the 14th American state. Two armies invaded the St. Lawrence Valley. How did the people of Quebec react? British subjects for barely twelve years, did they obey the English governor, Guy Carleton, or collaborate with the American invaders? Were the instructions of the bishop and local priests followed?
